ABTB’s Newest Team Member

Mike Bookkeeper

A few months ago we featured the women (Lori and Tiffany) behind Accounting By The Books (ABTB). Since those posts, we have acquired a new team member that we would like to feature in this week’s post. Michael Squires began working for ABTB when he moved to Charlotte at the end of the summer. I asked Mike a few questions about his personal and professional life, here is what he had to say.

1.) Name 3 things someone wouldn’t know about you by looking at you.

I like to ride my Harley in my spare time, I have four children, and I became a Papa to my first grandson, Luca, in July of 2013

2.) What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part about my job is entering data. I am a very organized person, so I thoroughly enjoy helping clients get their data entered and up to date.

3.) What is the most important thing you have learned since you started working for ABTB?

The most important thing that I have learned since working for ABTB is to be patient as your business grows. Take each step as they come- don’t rush or skip any steps because that can lead to overworking yourself, sacrificing fun and relationships as you try and achieve something that will come in due time. Live and fully enjoy life while your business is growing.

4.) What is one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out on a new business venture?

One piece of advice I would give to someone just starting out on a new business venture would be to streamline as much as you can, don’t overcomplicate where it isn’t needed. Keep things as simple as possible so that your business is easier for you to manage.

5.) Anything else you want to add about yourself?

I love living in Charlotte and being able to work and manage Accounting By The Books alongside my wife, Lori. Our decision to move down here from CT is one of the best we have ever made.

I hope you enjoyed hearing a little bit more about Mike. He is an excellent teammate and an asset to the Accounting By The Books firm.
