Getting To Know The Women Behind ABTB (Part Two)

Getting To Know The Women Behind ABTB

I mentioned in our first “Getting To Know The Women Behind ABTB” post that in addition to our bios, I thought it would be interesting to write about the women behind ABTB. In part one, I featured Lori, the owner and founder of ABTB. Today, I will be writing a little bit about myself, the woman behind the blog.

Almost exactly one year ago, I had my first baby. Soon after he was born, Lori (my mom) moved to Charlotte and started ABTB. I began working for her as she launched her business in a new city. I worked mostly on networking at first, creating a social media presence in order to get our name out there. Eventually, I started writing bi-weekly blog posts in addition to maintaining a social media presence. As ABTB began to grow, I began working on client files and I also began assisting Lori with tasks around her office.

I worked for Lori for her firm in Connecticut off and on over the years, mostly on weekends and on my summers off from teaching. I worked on monthly client files, projects, and I also worked as an administrative assistant.

I have really enjoyed working for ABTB. My favorite part is working with numbers. I have always had a strong love of numbers. I also really enjoy all that I am learning. Being present on social media has taught me a lot. So many different business owners post articles and/or blogs they’ve written and I have really enjoyed reading them and learning more about the business world.

In working for ABTB, I have also learned just how crucial it is to properly manage your bookkeeping. I have seen people start new businesses in both my professional and personal life. While I am not nearly as qualified to offer advice as Lori is, I can still speak to what I have seen and learned thus far. The one piece of advice I would offer to someone starting a new business is to take the time to invest in your bookkeeping. That can mean properly training yourself to manage your books, or to outsource your bookkeeping. Whichever is the best for your business- invest in it. Every successful business must have a strong financial foundation with someone who truly knows that they’re doing managing the books.

Outside of ABTB, I enjoy spending time with family, volunteering at our church, and going for walks on new trails around the Charlotte area. We have only lived here for two years, so I enjoy exploring and learning more about this city.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me. As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
